About the American Legion and Nickerson Post
In addition to hosting regular events for members, the Robert I Nickerson Post engages actively in the local Quincy and Massachusetts communities. A few of the many social programs include awarding scholarships to high school seniors from the community, donating to local sports programs, marching in parades, sponsoring cookouts for the Shriners Hospital, hosting Squantum groups and clubs, hosting fundraisers for folks needing assistance, and sending care packages to troops serving overseas.

The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism.

The American Legion is a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
